How to Enjoy Dazaifu Tenmangu in June

Hello everyone 🌞
This is Kimono Rental HIBIKI Fukuoka Dazaifu👘

When people think of Dazaifu’s most iconic sightseeing spot,
Dazaifu Tenmangu is usually the first place that comes to mind.

On May 16, the period of worship at the temporary shrine came to an end,
and the main shrine building was unveiled in its renewed form after about three years of restoration work.

Please note: due to the dismantling work of the temporary shrine, worship directly in front of the main shrine building will not be possible until around mid-September.

June is the rainy season,
but in fact, there are many special ways to enjoy Dazaifu Tenmangu during this time of year.

Today, we would like to introduce some of the charms of Dazaifu Tenmangu in June

Highlights of Dazaifu Tenmangu in June

1. Japanese Irises and Hydrangeas

Every year from late May to early June,
around 30,000 Japanese irises of about 55 varieties bloom beautifully in the Iris Pond within the grounds of Dazaifu Tenmangu.

Hydrangeas also bloom around the pond,
and the beautiful gradation of purple, pale purple, and white reflected on the water creates a view that can only be enjoyed at this time of year ✨

At our shop, we also offer yukata with iris and hydrangea patterns 👘
As a seasonal look unique to this time of year,
why not wear a yukata with iris or hydrangea motifs and enjoy a stroll around Dazaifu Tenmangu? 😊

2. Floral Water Basin Displays

Every year in mid-June, for several weeks,
the purification pavilion at Dazaifu Tenmangu is decorated with blue, purple, and white hydrangeas floating in the water basin.

Because the water basin at Dazaifu Tenmangu is quite large,
you can really appreciate the impressive beauty of the floral display ✨

You can also enjoy similar floral displays at nearby Kamado Shrine.
In various places around the shrine grounds,
you will find round flower decorations made with hydrangeas,
which add an especially cute and charming atmosphere.

These displays will end once the hydrangeas are past their best viewing period,
so if you are interested, it is best to visit early.
They are expected to be on display from around June 6 to June 21.

Be sure to look around and see how many lovely flower decorations you can find 😊

Of course, yukata with hydrangea patterns are a perfect match,
but blue, purple, and white yukata also go beautifully with the floral displays 👌
A coordination style with blue or purple tones in the obi is also very lovely ✨

Enjoy Yukata Even During the Rainy Season

Because it is the rainy season,
there are often fewer visitors,
which means you can enjoy walking around Dazaifu more slowly and peacefully than usual.

If you do not have an umbrella,
we also offer rental umbrellas.
They are available for same-day rental, so please feel free to ask our staff 😊

Japan is a country where you can experience many different kinds of natural beauty through the four seasons.
We hope you will come to Dazaifu and enjoy the irises and hydrangeas that can only be appreciated during this season ✨

“If you are not sure which yukata to choose,”
or
“If you would like to pick a pattern that matches the season,”

please feel free to ask our staff anytime.

We sincerely look forward to welcoming you.
